Marlys Jean Larsen was a caring wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend. Marlys lived her life with courage and conviction. She left this world on October 15,2021 at age 70.

She was born to Marjorie and Mads Petersen on January 16,1951. She graduated from Irwin-Kirkman High School along with her lifelong best friend, Sharon Erb (Monson) in 1969. She then went to beauty school in Council Bluffs. Marlys married her high school sweetheart Randall Larsen, on May 30, 1970. Together, they had 2 children: Chantil and Nate.

Marlys lived in the Walnut community for 45 years. She worked over 20 years at Peace Haven Retirement Home until her own retirement. She loved a pretty table, a beautiful garden and having coffee with Randall on the front porch. She never missed an opportunity to have fun with her grandchildren or the neighbor kids. She was always ready to attend a play of a sporting event.

Marlys was preceded in death by her parents; her brother in-law, LaVerne Hansen; and beloved granddaughter, Virginia Ellis.

She is mourned by her husband, Randall; her daughter, Chantil Ellis of Council Bluffs; her son, Nate Larsen and wife Reita of Blair; grandchildren, Josie, Dex, Dane, London and Landry; siblings, Marlene Hansen, Mark (Shirlyn) Petersen and Marilee (David) Christensen; and many family and friends.

A celebration of this beautiful life will be held at a later date when the peonies are in bloom and it's time for a garden party!
