Herman Bartling of Fremont died April 12 at his home at the age of 79 years.

Funeral services were held Monday in the Salem Lutheran Church with the Rev. Fredrick D. Boldt officiating. Burial was in Memorial Cemetery.

Mr. Bartling was born and reared in Washington County. He was baptized June 24, 1884 at Hooper and confirmed April 11, 1897.

He was married to Emma Brandert at Fontanelle May 23, 1906. They have made their home in Fremont for the past 27 years.

Survivors include his widow, Emma; sons, Byron of Craig, Leonard of Herman, Gilbert and Marvin of Fremont; 12 grandchildren; seven great grandchildren and a brother, Dietrich Bartling of Carthage, Mo.
