Nina Going Phalen

October 9, 1930 - July 7, 2021

Nina Going Phalen, age 91, of Fremont, formerly of Lyons passed away peacefully July 7, 2021 in Fremont, NE.

She was born in Washington County in 1930. She moved to Lyons when she was 16 to work as an operator for Bell telephone. There, she met and later married Ted, her husband of 46 years. After Ted’s death in 1994, she later married Paul Phalen, a long time friend.

She was preceded in death by her husbands Ted and Paul. She is survived by her children, Curt, Sandy (Ted), Cary (Nancy), and Jim (Lupita), her grandchildren, Chris, Kari (Colin), Montana, Chamisa, Tatum, and Cody, and great granddaughters, Teddi and Karter.

Visitation will be Friday, July 9, 2021 from 3pm to 8pm at the Ludvigsen Mortuary Chapel in Fremont. Family will be present from 6pm to 8pm. The funeral service will be held Saturday, July 10, 2021 at St. John’s Lutheran Church (1543 Co Rd 13) in Lyons, NE at 10:00am. Burial will follow at the Lyons cemetery.

Nina lived for her family, her friends, a great game of pitch, and an occasional drink of Windsor and Squirt. She will be greatly missed.
