Albert E. “Al” Cerny, age 85 of Fremont, Nebraska passed away Sunday, September 26, 2021 at Nebraska Methodist Hospital in Omaha. He was born June 11, 1936 in North Bend, NE to Adolph and Alice (McDaniel) Cerny.

Al grew up in North Bend and graduated from North Bend Central High School. He ran C.B. Welding for about 15 years in Fremont and then owned Fremont Lock and Key for over 30 years. He was a member of the Fremont Volunteer Fire Department from 1976 until 2012 when it ended. He was a member of FOE Aerie 200 in Fremont, was past president and held many offices.

Al is survived by his son, Mark (Tami) Cerny; daughter, Carolyn (Gary) Charter all of Fremont, and Teresa (Randy) Quick of Blair; 10 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Katherine L’Heureux; and brother, James Cerny.

Graveside Service will be 2 P.M., Thursday, September 30, 2021 at St. Mary’s Cemetery west of Cedar Bluffs, NE. Rev. Scott Jensen will officiate.

Memorials are suggested to the Fremont Fire Department or to the family.
