An additional memorial service will be scheduled at a later date for her friends in Kalispell to be held at the Trinity Lutheran Church there.

Rogene Ellen (Hornickel) Rogers was born July 4, 1953, in Ord, Nebraska, to Lores LaVerne and Velma Augusta (Bockstadter) Hornickel. She lived and attended school in Ord through her graduation from Ord High School in 1971.

Rogene met her husband, Michael, while he was serving St. John Lutheran Church in Ord, where they were also united in marriage on June 26, 1977. Following Michael's pastoral calls to serve, they moved to Middletown, Connecticut, after they were married (1977-1978); Milwaukee, Wisconsin, where both of her sons were born (1978-1984); Wisconsin Dells, Wisconsin (1984-1989), and Arlington, Nebraska (1989-2000). Upon retirement, they moved to Bemidji, Minnesota, where Michael passed away in 2011 (2000-2016); then in 2016, Rogene, along with her son, Luke, moved to Kalispell, Montana, to be close to the mountains.

Rogene enjoyed cooking, baking, crafting and quilting. She held various jobs and business ventures throughout her life, including running her own craft store, "The Parson's Wife," in Wisconsin Dells. She enjoyed selling her handmade goods at craft shows, teaching quilting classes, baking pies and Christmas cookies, entertaining, decorating, and most of all, being a wonderful mother to her two boys. She touched many people by her kindness, generosity, and her strong faith. She will be missed by many.

She is survived by her two sons, Luke Rogers of Kalispell and Ethan (Katie) Rogers of Bemidji; sister, Ronda Tucker, and brother, Roger (Amy) Hornickel, both of Ord, Nebraska. She is preceded in death by her husband, Rev. Dr. Michael Rogers; parents, Lores and Velma Hornickel; and brother, Randy.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the quilting Thimble Club at Trinity Lutheran Church in Kalispell, Montana, or any charity related to the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod.
