SERVICES HELD FOR DONALD JENSEN TUESDAY

Funeral services were held Tuesday, July 12, at Our Savior Lutheran Church, Plainview, Nebraska, for Donald William Jensen, 61, of Plainview, who died July 9, 1983, at Plainview Hospital after a lengthy illness.

The Rev. Milburn Franke officiated, assisted by Pastor Marvin Nygaard, Owatonna, Minnesota. Burial with Military honors was at Pleasant View Cemetery, Plainview.

Donald William Jensen, son of James William and Marie Rasmussen Jensen, was born at the family farm southwest of Plainview, March 23, 1922. He attended country school District No. 62.

He married Genevieve Skauon, February 20, 1944, at First Lutheran Church in Blair.

He was inducted into the United States Army in June, 1944. He served in the Pacific Theatre where he was wounded in action on the Island of Le Jima in 1945. He received his honorable discharge in April, 1946.

They lived near Blair where he was employed for two years. They moved to a farm southwest of Plainview in March, 1948. Due to ill health, he retired in November, 1959, and moved to Plainview.

He was baptized and confirmed at the former Bethany Lutheran Church, which is now Our Savior Lutheran Church. He served as a Sunday School teacher and church treasurer. He was a member of Disabled American Veterans and Multiple Sclerosis Societies. He was a charter member of Plainview Manor and was serving on the board of directors at the time of his death.

He was preceded in dedath by his parents. Survivors include his wife; one daughter, Betty Muhs and her husband, Dean, two grandsons, Brian and Kevin Muhs, all of Columbus, Nebraska; one brother, Kenneth and his wife Lorene, of Norfolk; one sister, Mildred Holberg and her husband, George, of Loveland, Colorado; and one niece, Janet (Holberg) Bean of Longment, Colorado.

Pallbearers were Dick Meuret, Doyle Pearson, Darold Rasmussen, Duane Rasmussen, Eldon Fox and Eugene Meyer.

Honorary pall bearers were Lloyd Johnson, Cecil McGowen, Melvin Rasmussen, Emory Bergh, Greg Hoffman and Kenneth Mathiesen.
