Rhoda Marie (Iversen) Schjodt was born Jan. 27, 1928, in Omaha, to Alfred and Asta (Jorgensen) Iversen. She graduated from Underwood, Iowa High School.

Rhoda attended Dana College, receiving a two-year elementary teaching degree. She taught 3rd grade in Shelby, Iowa until she married Harald A Schjodt on May 29, 1949, and moved to Blair. She was a loving and hard-working farmer’s wife for 59 years.

Rhoda was very musical. She loved sharing the fact that she and eight other friends played in a triple-triple trio piano concert. While in college she sang in the Dana College Choir and took piano lessons. She directed the church choir in Shelby, Iowa, taught piano lessons out of her home, led music classes at District 91 Sutherland Country School, and loved singing and playing piano with her family.

Rhoda was also a member of the Dana College Round Robin, a group of eight women who wrote letters to each other for over 70 years.

Rhoda loved to craft, and tatting was her expertise. She tatted lace doilies of all sizes and kinds, and decorated greeting cards. Sending cards and letters, notes and pick-me-ups was Rhoda’s Love Language.

In addition to her children, Rhoda helped raise her husband’s younger sister Carol (Schjodt) Hundtofte, and her niece, Karen (Hundtofte) Cole.
