DIED

OSTERLUND - On Saturday, Dec. 31, about 12 o’clock midnight, at the family residence in this city, Marion N., wife of Soren M. Osterlund, aged 60 years.

Mrs. Osterlund was a native of Denmark, and together with her husband and the younger members of the family, came over from the old country direct to Blair some five years ago to join their son, N. M. Osterlund, a well known businessman of this place who had been here some years previously.

She leaves the aged husband and father and five living children to mourn the loss of wife and mother. The children are two sons and three daughters, the youngest of which is sixteen years of age.

This family has been peculiarly unfortunate recently. One son, Max, being an invalid for some time past, came home but a few weeks ago, only to fall rapidly away and die. A younger brother, James, has been in a dangerous condition for some time past, and while he was yet sick, the every faithful mother was stricken down with typhoid pneumonia, and was called away after about two weeks’ sickness. Dr. Sprague of Omaha visited her some days before her death and found her case hopeless.

The funeral was from the house on Monday, services being conducted by the Lutheran pastor, Rev. Christiansen.

At this writing the younger son, James, is thought to be a little improved, and good hopes of his recovery are entertained.
