DIED

COFFMAN - At his home near Calhoun, this county, on Monday evening, Jan. 30, 1893, William Coffman, aged 51 and a half years.

William Coffman was born in Muskingum county, Ohio, Aug. 5th, 1841. He was one of a family of five children of whom one brother and two sisters only remain. These are Dr. Coffman of Omaha, Mrs. Cheshire of Indianola, Iowa and Mrs. Oakes of Texas. Besides the wife and mother, he leaves three children, one boy and two girls. He has been a sufferer from heart and stomach trouble for four years past, but was at no time considered seriously ill. On Sunday he had a severe chill, but was able to set up and even to walk about the house on Monday. His death at 7:30 that evening was as sudden as it was unexpected. He was a Mason of twenty years standing. Funeral services were held at the family residence on Wednesday, Rev. Jas. Sheppard of this place officiating and at once the remains were taken south on the noon train accompanied by the widow and children on their way to the old home at Indianola, Iowa for interment which will be conducted today by Masonic fraternity. Wm. Coffman’s long residence in this county caused him to be well known to all, and his unexpected death will cause sincere regret by a large circle of friends and acquaintances.
