2 June, 1892 - The Pilot - Susan Edith (Aldrich) Hagenbuck

DIED

On Monday evening, May 23, 1892, of heart disease, Mrs. R. D. Hagenbuck, aged 43 years.

Mrs. Hagenbuck was born in Oberlin, Ohio. Her parents removed from that state to Dubuque, Iowa when she was six months old, where they remained until 1856. In that year they came to Ft. Calhoun, this county.

Mrs. Hagenbuck was married to the husband, who now mourns her loss, on Aug. 1, 1874. From that time up to the time of her decease, she has been a resident of this vicinity, living on a farm a few miles out of town until three years ago when they took up their residence in Arlington. She leaves a husband and eight children (one only a few days old) to mourn over her departure. It will be seen that Mrs. Hagenbuck was quite an old resident of this community. The funeral service took place Tuesday at the residence, Rev. A. W. Ayers officiating. The Times extends its sympathy to the bereaved family - Arlington times.

Mrs. Hagenbuck’s maiden name was Susan Aldrich, being the youngest daughter of Elisha Aldrich, one of the early settlers of Calhoun who located there in 1856, and died there some ten or twelve years ago. The father, mother and one sister to Susan lie buried in the Calhoun Cemetery. The family was well known and highly respected at Calhoun where their home was for many years, and Susan was a general favorite.
