Mr. Jas. Van Valin, an old resident of New England and father of Mr. Chambers of this place, passed away suddenly on Monday. Although in failing health for years, his death was unexpected and a great stroke to the family. The funeral took place yesterday afternoon and was attended by some of our best citizens. The family have the sympathy of their friends in their bereavement.
