4 Feb., 1895 - The Pilot - Alphea Maud Fuller

DIED

FULLER:-On Monday, Feb. 4, 1895, at 9:30 P. M., of paralysis of the brain, after a brief illness, Alphea Maud, wife of B.F. Fuller, aged 45 years.

Mrs. Fuller had been bedfast only about two weeks, though for some years had been in failing health, and only last year herself and husband spent some months in Texas seeking help for her in a change of climate. Her maiden name was Lane, she being the daughter of W. M. Lane, of Rochester, New Hampshire, and a sister to Hon. Geo. B. Lane, ex-State Supt. of Nebraska.

She was born at Rochester, N. H., and was married to B. F. Fuller, March 10, 1876, and together they came to Nebraska in 1880. Previous to coming west she taught school at Van Wert, Ohio, and at St. Louis, Mo, under the superintendency of her brother, Geo. B. Lane, and was for a time in the employ of the D. Appleton book firm at Chicago, with her brother Charles, who has been twenty years their manager.

She is the mother of two children, both of whom survive her: Geo. A aged 14, and Nellie aged 8 1/2 years. In 1886 she became a member of the Congregational church and has since been earnest and enthusiastic in religious work. She was also a member of Welcome Rebekah Lodge of the L.O. O. F. As a wife and mother, as a sincere Christian lady of refined and cultured thought and action, and as a vigorous worker in whatever her hands found to do, she merited and sustained the highest regard in the esteem of all who knew her.

The funeral was held on Friday afternoon, Feb. 8, at the family residence, Rev. Perking, the Congregational pastor, officiating, and the remains were interred in the Blair cemetery. The youngest child, Nellie, was taken home to Chicago by the brother Charles Lane, after the funeral, and will remain with his family. The boy, George, will return to New Hampshire later with the sorrowing husband and father.
