Death of Grace Hancock

(Communicated.)

HANCOCK-Died at the home of her parente,B. F. and Mary Hancock, near Vacoma, on May 26, of appendicitis, Grace Hancock, aged 15 years. The illness of Grace was very brief, only being confined to her bed twenty four hours, and the suddenness of her death has shocked us beyond expression. She was born at the home of her parents on Bell Creek, Feb. 22, 1881, and her life has been spent at home and at her school, where her warm heart and affectionate disposition had won for her the love of all who knew her. She became converted and joined the Methodist Episcopal church in December, 1895, and since that time she has led a consecrated, patient Christian life.

In her last illness she was a patient sufferer and though bearing excruciating pain she did not murmur, but begged the loved ones not to worry about her condition and just before the end when asked if she was afraid to die, her lips framed the word "no," which she could not speak. And in this sweet and peaceful manner the soul left the body racking with pain and entered the land of pure delight.

Words are inadequate to express our sorrow and grief. Yet in a degree our sadness is mitigated for we know that she is with God.

The funeral services were held at the family residence on Wednesday afternoon, conducted by her pastor, Rev. John F. Poucher, burial at the Telbasta cemetery. To the parents, brothers and sisters, a large circle of friends extend their heartfelt sympathy and the love of the entire community goes out to them in this sad hour of bereavement.
