PETERSON - At his home in Grant on Saturday, July 29, Martin Peterson, aged forty six years.

Mr. Peterson was a native of Norway, and came to Wisconsin when quite young, from which place he came to Nebraska in April, 1857, locating on New York Creek in this county, near his late residence. He was a man of sterling integrity, and being one of the pioneers in this county, had acquired financial independence and the confidence of his neighbors to that degree that his influence was widely known and felt.

He has been declining for nearly a year, his disease assuming a dropsical form. He leaves a wife, but no children. Mrs. Peterson is a sister to Mrs. Watson Tyson and Mrs. Peter Johnson, but Mr. Peterson had no near relatives of his won in this country.

The funeral was conducted at the family residence on Monday by Rev. Worley, and an unusually large concourse of friends followed his remains to their last resting place in the Blair Cemetery.
