Olive, 7 months old babe of William and Mary Downs, died of pneumonia and measles on last Sunday night about 2 o’clock. Little Olive had been a great sufferer during most of her short life. Her extreme delicate health, which required the almost constant care of the mother had so endeared the little darling to her mother that, while she can but feel that the little one is at rest, her sorrow is almost unconsolable.
All that loving friends could do, was done to care for the little one and comfort the sorrowing family who have the sympathy of their numerous friends in this their sorrow for a third little one, who have gone on, beckoning with their little lives and hands to follow on in hope and trust for the reward of the righteous.
“Our rose was but in blossom,
Our life was but in Spring,
When down the solemn midnight
We heard the spirits sing;
“Another bud of infancy
With holy dews impearled;”
And in their hands they bore our wee,
White rose of all the world.”
“Fold her, O Father, in thine arms,
And let her henceforth be
A messenger of love between
Our human hearts and thee.”
