April 15, 1897- The Pilot-Raymond M. Hartsell

Died-April 8th of diphtheria, Raymond M., the youngest child of Mr. and Mr. M.O. Hartsell, aged three years and three months. Raymond was a bright and beautiful child, the joy and idol of the home. The sympathy of the large circle of friends go out to the bereaved ones in the hour of their deep affliction and we can only commend them to Him who said, “Suffer the children to come unto me,” and who “carries the lambs in His bosom.” But we lay these away amidst our deep grief, although we “sorrow not as those who have no hope,” because we believe that Jesus died and arose again’ and that we shall be united again. “Let not your heart be troubled, ye believe in God, believe also in Me. For the benefit of Miss Laura, who is also suffering from the same disease, a few of the friends sang a couple of hymns outside the open window and the pastor offered prayer. Quite a number of friends followed the remains to the Blair cemetery where a very short service was held. Raymond has passed from this world of sin to a brighter one above.

S.C. Green, Pastor
