September 23, 1897- The Pilot- Alice E. Andersen

Died, Alice Andersen, daughter of Rev. A.M. Andersen and wife, was born June 10th 1882 near Argo, Burt County, Nebraska and died Monday Sept. 27, 1897, at the home of her parents near the Danish college. Death was caused by diphtheria. Alice attended school last Thursday, feeling very tired and quite ill when she came home that afternoon. Friday morning she was very sorry that she could not go to school, as she had not before lost a day’s attendance during the two years she now had been here. She was also a steady devotional and beloved attendant at the Danish Lutheran Sunday School, the members showing their love for her by placing a nice memorial wreath on her coffin. Just before her death she exclaimed in triumph and with a smile on her face: “Don’t cry, mamma, I go to Jesus, yes, I go to Jesus, mamma.” Alice loved her Savior and shall forever wear the Crown of Eternal Life. Rev. Andersen was away at the time of the death and was unable to get here before Tuesday evening, when the funeral took place. Many friends express heartfelt sympathy with the parents and relatives.
