DEATH OF MRS. A.E. HALLER

Mrs. A. E. Haller, mother of the Haller brothers and sisters of this place, died at her home in East Troy, Wisconsin, on February 22d, 1894, at the advanced age of 81 years and a few days. All of her children, now living--five sons and three daughters, attended her funeral. A large concourse of neighbors and friends followed her remains to the grave, testilying their love and respect to one who had been for many years respected by all.

She was a native of the republic of Switzerland, from which country she immigrated to the U. S. in 1833. In 1837 she emigrated to the then territory of Wisconsin, and with her husband, who survives, settled on the farm that they claimed over 57 years ago. Nine years ago last June, she celebrated her golden wedding. On that occasion all her children were gathered at the old homestead, and the pleasures of that gathering will always be remembered by them.

Her pioneer days were fraught with hardships and trials. Coming to their new home poor, without a knowledge of the language or customs of this country, they suffered many hardships and deprivations which those otherwise situated escaped. Through all these she exhibited a determined courage to overcome obstacles and attain success. She was the mother of a large family of children for whose comfort and happiness she was ready to sacrifice herself. She lived to see them grow up, and it was one of her chief joys to welcome them to the old home on their annual visits. She was a faithful member of the church for nearly sixty years. With a simple trusting faith she directed the lives of those near and dear to her to a higher and better life.

She is sincerely mourned by her family and many friends. The entire community where she lived, and the church to which she belonged, feel her death is a personal loss. Her aged husband, especially, whose life was knit with hers for nearly sixty years, feels her loss most deeply. The heartfelt sympathy of all friends are with him.
