May 23, 1898- The Pilot- David B. 'Dave' Herman

Dave Herman, whose funeral took place from the Herman home last Thursday, was a pioneer to this county. When the railroad was first through he came with two brothers, Chris and John. Since coming he has more or less identified with the advancement of Blair, building at least one substantial structure in our midst. We refer to the building now occupied by the Gem restaurant. He leaves a kind hearted mother and a very estimable sister to mourn the departure of a son and brother. The Pilot has but kind thoughts and words for the bereaved ones left behind and with their large circle of friends extends its sympathy. Mr. Herman was human but had many redeeming traits of character that those who knew him best will long remember.
