February 2, 1899- The Pilot- Roscoe V. Green

Roscoe, the son of Mr. and Mrs. J.A. Green, died last Saturday at 2 p.m. For some time the little boy has not been well, but until a week before his death he was not considered dangerous, but a hard case of la grippe had fastened itself on Roscoe, and after a week’s illness, spasms ended his life. The little boy was 4 years, 3 months and 21 days old and extremely bright beyond his years. Lovable in disposition and winning in his ways, made him a favorite not only with the family but with everybody whom he met, but death has taken this little flaxen haired boy from his parents and grandparents, but in their loss they realize that he is safe. The funeral occurred last Monday at 2 p.m. from the residence of S. Malone, Rev. Barton officiating. “Ere sin could blight or sorrow fade, Death came with friendly care; The opening bud to Heaven conveyed, And bade it blossom there.
