October 23, 1899- The Pilot-Pamelia C. Newell

The death of Mrs. Henry Newell occurred last Thursday night at her home in Omaha, after a few days illness of pneumonia. Deceased was born in Massachusetts in 1840 and came west, with her family about twenty-seven years ago and located in Blair where she was a resident until about ten years ago when the family moved to Omaha where they have since resided. Since going to Omaha Mr. and Mrs. Newell have been custodians of the Masonic Temple until last January. Almost everyone knew Mrs. Newell and none knew her but to love her. She was a zealous worker in the Order of Eastern Star and her name is familiar throughout the state in that order. She was a very charitable woman and many a home in Omaha has been made happier by some kindly act. She leaves a husband and six children to mourn their loss. Will and Frank of Omaha, Mrs. Fiora(Flora) Brown of Aspen, Colorado, Mrs. Fred Shirley of Omaha, Rob who is a dentist in this state, and Lizzie who lives at home. The funeral was held at the residence 1806 North 19th St. Omaha, this morning and the remains were brought to Blair this afternoon and interred in the cemetery. She was a member of the Rebekah Lodge in this city. The bereaved family has the heartfelt sympathy of the community.
