Lydia M. Whitlock was born near Farmington, Van Buran County, Iowa, September 29, 1867 and died at Arlington Nebraska, September 6, 1901.

She was married to Rev. J.H. Dorbecker on September 20, 1888. To this union were born one son and three daughters. Sister Dorbecker was converted when fourteen years of age and joined the church. She remained a faithful and consistent member until her death. She was a consecrated Christian and her kindness and hospitality were known by all who came within her home. For many months she suffered, and while her pain was almost unbearable, she bore it with Christian fortitude. Her faith in God did not waver. She was patient through it all and passed to her eternal reward rejoicing in a faith that triumphed over suffering and death. Her husband and one little daughter survive to cherish her memory. The funeral services were conducted at the church in Arlington by her Pastor, F.M. Couffer. From Hebrews 13 and 14: “For here have we no continuing city, but we seek one to come.”
