C. A. Dixon suffered a paralytic stroke Thursday, February 13, that affected his right side for a time but he seemed to improve some. Last Thursday morning a second stroke left him unconscious and on Friday afternoon a third and a final stoke became death following at 6:40 p.m.

The funeral was held at the Methodist Church at 2 o'clock yesterday afternoon, Rev. Chas. P. Lane, his pastor, officiating. A large attendance showed something of the high esteem to which he was held by all who knew him.

Mr. Dixon was born near Monroe, Jasper County, Iowa, June 24, 1856, coming to this county with his parents in August, 1865, settling on a homestead in Cumings City Township. He was married to Miss Samantha E. Kline at the L. M. Kline home in Cumings City on October 19, 1882. The ceremony being performs by Rev. Chas. Cross. They lived on a farm near Cumings City for seven years coming to this city in 1889.

Besides his wife, he leaves the following surviving children: Myrtle, now Mrs. A. N. Lund of Oakland; Lloyd of Vancouver, B.C.; Howard of LaGrand, Oregon and Harold who lives at home. Two boys died in infancy. He leaves also six brothers, Will, Asa, George, Earl, Wesley and Sylvester. Will lives at University Place; George at Perry, Okla.; Sylvester at Arlington; and the other three in this city. All were here but George to attend the funeral. Also, Frank and Louis Kline and Mrs. Maude Peterson of Fremont; Mrs. H. B. Ailes and family of near Herman; Mr. And Mrs. A. N. Lund and Chris Lund of Oakland; Mrs. Jones of Norfolk: Mr. And Mrs. Jasper Dixon of Arlington.

Mr. Dixon was a member of the Modern Woodman and carried policy $2,000 in that order. He also served on or more terms city council from the first ward but held no other public office. He was a good citizen and his sudden death was mourned by many outside the bereaved family who have the sincere sympathy of the entire community.
