Obituary for Betty May Stephens

Betty M. Stephens, 95, passed away May 4, 2022 at her son's home in Blair, NE. Betty was born August 21, 1926 in Omaha, NE to Charles and Hattie Bird. She graduated form South High School at age 16 and worked for OPS for several years.

Betty married Richard E. Stephens March 14th, 1947. Richard preceded her in death Oct. 7, 2014. They had celebrated 67 years of marriage.

They made their home in Omaha till 1973 and then moved to Ft. Calhoun, NE. Betty loved to garden and then canning and freezing the produce she grew. She was noted for making the best dill pickles and became known to family members and friends as 'the Pickle Lady'. Her favorite pastime was to go fishing with family.

Betty is survived by four sons and their spouses: Dan (Bonnie) of Blair, NE, David (Jeanette) of Red Oak, IA, Mark (Terri) of Blair, NE and Doug (Carol) of Bennington, NE, 7 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren.

Preceded in death by parents, Charles & Hattie, brothers, Richard and Howard and sisters, Hazel and Marj. Visitation will be Wed., May 11th, from 5 to 7 p.m. at Braman Mortuary, 1702 N 72nd, Omaha. Graveside services will be Thurs.,May 12th, at 10:30 a.m. in Westlawn-Hillcrest Memorial Park, 57th and Center, Omaha, NE
