FORMER BLAIR BUSINESS WOMAN WAS A VICTIM OF HEART DISEASE

Daughter of a prominent early-day family in Blair and herself a successful business woman here for several years, Mrs. J.F. Mead of Grand Island, Neb. died Tuesday, Jun 20, at the home of her son, Leo S. Mead, in Omaha, where she was visiting. Heart disease was the cause of her death. Mrs. Mead was 67 years old.

Born in Indiana, February 18, 1866, Mrs. Mead came to Blair with her parents, Dr. and Mrs. Samuel B. Taylor, when she was a child. Dr. Taylor, in addition to his medical practice conducted a drug store here.

Mrs. Mead attended and was graduated from the Blair school and conducted a successful millinery business here for a number of years. A capable business woman, Mrs. Mead possessed the capacity of making and keeping friends and her death is mourned by scores of her Blair acquaintances.

On July 7th, 1905, she was married to J.G. Mead and since that time has resided in Grand Island.

Funeral services were conducted Thursday afternoon in Blair from the Remberg home. Rev. Mr. Gramley, pastor of the Episcopal church of Florence conducted the rites and interment was made in the Blair cemetery.
