A Pioneer Resident Gone

At his home in this place Sunday forenoon, Henry Alberts passed from earth, after an illness of several months duration. The funeral was held Tuesday, Rev. H. Hallerberg officiating. Interment was in the Lutheran cemetery north of town.

Henry Alberts was born in Hanover, Germany, July 7, 1840, where he resided until 1874 when he came to this country, settling in Omaha. Before leaving the old country he mastered the trade of a shoemaker, and while residing in Omaha he worked at that trade. In 1877 he came to Arlington and opened a repair shop, and has resided here ever since. While living in Omaha he was married to Miss Mary Williams, who had known each other in the old country, and after coming to Omaha the old acquaintance was renewed, which ripened into love, their marriage following. No children were ever born to the worthy couple, and they have lived together here during all these years, happy and contented. Last fall he was taken sick since which time he has been confined to his home most of the time, but for the past two months his family gave up all hope of his final recovery, death coming to his relief last Sunday. Had he lived until July 7th he would have been 72 years old. Mr. Alpers was well known to every man, woman and child in Arlington, was well liked by all, his life having been so spent that he earned the respect and confidence of all. Thus it is; one by one these pioneers who blazed the way for the present happy and contented people, are being called to their eternal home, respected and loved by all. To the widow, who for nearly 40 years has shared his joys and sorrows, the whole community extends its heartfelt sympathy.
