Elaine Kiesbye Jurgens was born in Fremont, Nebraska on March 3, 1937 to Ed and Gertrude Jurgens. They lived on a farm a mile and a half south of Cedar Bluffs. In 1943 the family moved to Elaine’s father’s place after his father’s death.

Growing up, she learned many things. First, faith in God, family traditions, honesty, working to earn what you will get, to drive a tractor, taking care of animals, and to drive a car. She also learned to cook, bake, can and clean, to always look nice before going out in public and respect others and their property. These have served her well all her whole life. Growing up she enjoyed teaching Sunday School, being with family and friends. She always looked forward to going to Fremont for ice cream. Elaine graduated from Cedar Bluffs High School in May, 1954, met the love of her life, Clarence, and married on April 16, 1955. They had four sons, Bruce, Scott, David and Randy.

Elaine was preceded in death by her husband Clarence, her parents and grandparents, and two “brothers” Chuck and Gary. Survived by children, Bruce (Karen), Scott, David (Robin), and Randy (Mary). Fifteen grandchildren, many great-grandchildren. Life long friend Marylin and “sisters” Arlene and Kay, and many nieces and nephews.
