23 Mar., 1899 - The Pilot - C. A. Martin (should be Marten, according to Blair cemetery records)

C. A. Martin was born near Flensburg, Schleswig Holstein, about 1833, where he was employed in a dry goods store from 1849 to 1899, when he emigrated to the U. S. and lived in Iowa a few years.

From there he moved to Fremont and ran a general store under the firm of C. A. Martin & Co. After dissolving this business he was engaged in looking after mining interests in the west. In 1884 he came to Blair and clerked for Matthiesen Bros. until they closed. Since that time he has been a resident of the city. He had been sick for some time and death came last Monday. His remains were interred in the Blair Cemetery yesterday.
