Ralph Philbrook Killed

Ralph Philbrook, aged 22 years, who resided on the island east of Ft. Calhoun was killed by a train at Woodbine, Iowa, yesterday afternoon, when attempting to board a freight train he stepped into the path of a fast passenger train. He and his brother Fred were working their way north in search of work. He was killed instantly, the body being horribly mangled. The remains were brought to the Sievers mortuary here by Richard Sievers and Oral Harrison last evening. Funeral arrangements have not yet been made.

The funeral of Ralph Philbrook who was killed Oct. 30 at Woodbine, Iowa, while attempting to board a train, was held at the Sievers mortuary the following day, Rev, R. H. Prentice conducting the service. Burial was in the Ft. Calhoun cemetery.

The deceased young man was born April 12, 1912, at St. Francis, Arkansas, and while he was a small boy came with his parents to Illinois, where they resided until moving to Ft. Calhoun a few years ago. Ralph was highly regarded by all his acquaintances and his untimely death is mourned by a large circle of friends. He is survived by his parents and three brothers, Clarence, Orville and Russel.
