Elizabeth Ellen “Ella” (Brand) Depue
Died on 1/23/1914
Buried in Fontanelle Lutheran Cemetery

January 29, 1914- Arlington Review Herald- Elizabeth Ellen “Ella” (Brand)

On Friday, Mrs. Ellen Depue, after a short illness following a surgical operation, died at the Fremont Hospital. Mrs. Depue was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Brand of our town, coming here with her parents from Illinois. For the past year Mrs. Depue had been staying with her brother, Henry Brand, whose wife died about a year ago, administering the wants of his family, which makes it doubly sad, besides leaving her two sons, Roy and Lloyd, without the kind, motherly advice and guidance in life’s battle, their father having died several years ago. There survives, besides her two sons and father and mother, five brothers, and three sisters. The funeral was held at the old Congregational Church, Rev. Downing of Nickerson officiating, taking part of his text from “In my Father’s house are many mansions; if it were not so I would not have told you.” The choir, composed of A.C. Flatou, Harvey Hartung, Miss Dora Cook and Mrs. E.M. Uehling, sang several beautiful and touching songs. Mrs. Depue was a member of the Royal Neighbors of our town, whose members assisted the family in their bereavement. She was buried in the German Lutheran church cemetery beside her husband. Mrs. Depue was held in high esteem among friends and neighbors and beautiful floral offerings adorned the casket. The entire community extends their heartfelt sympathy to the bereaved families.
