RAY GILLETT, 93

Ray Gillett, 93, of Blair, died Tuesday, March 19, 2002, at Longview Nursing Home in Missouri Valley, Iowa.

A mass of Christian burial will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 23, at St. Francis Borgia Catholic Church in Blair. A vigil service will be held at 7:30 p.m. Friday at Campbell-Aman Funeral Home. Interment will be in the Blair Cemetery.

Charles Ray Gillett was born November 14, 1908, in Blair, to James Charles and Edna (Haynie) Gillett. He grew up in Blair and remained in the Blair area all of his life. He graduated from Blair High School in 1921.

On June 20, 1933, he married Evelyn Wilkins in Blair.

Mr. Gillett worked at several businesses in Blair and at the Martin Bomber Plant in Omaha during WWII. After the war, he started working for the Gus Renze Advertising Agency in Omaha as a commercial artist. He worked there for more than 30 years, retiring in the late 1970s.

He was an avid sports fan and enjoyed watching different events, one of which was the auto land speed racing at the Salt Flats in Utah.

He is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Peg and Tom Gilmore of Missouri Valley, Iowa, three granddaughters, five great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Evelyn, and two brothers.

Campbell-Aman Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
