MRS. GILLILAND FUNERAL SUNDAY

NATIVE OF BLAIR, SHE DIED IN BURT COUNTY THURSDAY AT AGE 62

Funeral services, in charge of the Rev. C.E. Hamilton of the Blair Baptist church, were held at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Bendorf Funeral Home for Mrs. John Gilliland, 62, who died last Thursday morning near Tekamah. Burial followed in Blair Cemetery.

Mrs. Gilliland, as Dorothy Nye Carson, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. George Carson, Sr. was born October 22, 1875, near Blair and lived here during the earlier part of her life. She was married December 31, 1893 to John E. Gilliland, and to them were born seven sons, one of whom, Orie, died in 1920 at the age of 19.

Several years after their marriage the Gillilands moved to a farm in Burt County near Lake Quinnebaugh, where they resided about 20 years. In 1927 they moved to a ranch near Burwell, and two years later the family moved back to eastern Nebraska following the death of Mr. Gilliland in 1929.

Surviving Mrs. Gilliland are six sons, Roy, living in Wyoming; Marion, Lloyd, Howard, Raymond and Wesley, living at Tekamah. There are six grandchildren. Mrs. Gilliland is also survived by a brother, George Carson of Chicago.
