Thus may this fluttering spark of vital flame forsake it’s languid Melancholy frame! Thus may these eyes their trembling luster close. Welcoming the dreamless night of long Repose! Thus may this wo-worm spirit seek the bourn where lull’d to slumber, grief forgets to mourn.

After nearly twenty years of continual illness from asthma, Mrs. Mehte Monke succumbed to an attack of bronchial pneumonia last Sunday morning at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Brinkman. She, having been sick but three days with the above mentioned disease. She was 80 years of age and as near as we can find out at the present writing, she leaves only one child, her step-daughter Mrs. Fred Brinkman, her husband having been removed by paralysis on August 26, 1900.

The funeral was held on Wednesday, with a short service at the house at 11 o’clock and at the church at 1 p.m., a host of friends following to her last resting place.
