Martha (Merriman) Lockman
Died on 4/14/1910

May 19, 1910-Arlington Review Herald-Martha (Merriman) Lockman

Word was received in Arlington Monday that Mrs. Martha Lockman, mother of our townsman, S.H. Lockman, had died in Portland, Oregon, Sunday, and that the body would be shipped to Arlington on Tuesday. The news was unexpected by Mr. Lockman, and came as a shock to him, as he had not heard that his mother was ailing. The time for the funeral has not yet been announced, but the interment will be at Elk City where her husband preceded her in 1887. Mrs. Lockman was born in Indiana 75 years ago the 27th day of this March, coming to Nebraska in 1884, where she resided on a farm near Elk City until about six years ago, when she left for Portland, where she has since resided with a son, who makes that city his home. Mrs. Lockman was well known to all the older residents of the Elk City neighborhood, who will remember her as a good neighbor and a generous hearted woman. She is survived by five sons and four daughters, of whom S.H. Lockman, of this place is the youngest.
