May 16, 1910- Arlington Review Herald- Newell William Blanchard

After suffering intensely with bowel trouble and other complications for over six weeks, the little five month old son of Mr. and Mrs. G.W. Blanchard, living north of town, died last Friday forenoon about 11 o’clock. During its illness almost everything possible in human aid and medical skill was brought to its relief but all effort to save its little life seemed unavailing. The little flower, which had been planted on earth by the Great Creator, was soon plucked and again taken to His bosom. Two trained nurses were in attendance, and a physician who is considered an expert in treating diseases of children, was secured from Omaha. Indeed the fond father and mother of the babe spared no expense in an attempt to save their darling. The funeral was held from the home on Sunday forenoon, and the remains were taken to Blair and interred in the cemetery at that place, many of the neighbors and friends of the bereaved parents accompanying them on their end journey. Newell William Blanchard was born November 10, 1909, and died May 13, 1910, aged six months and two days.

The above is taken from the Herman Record of last week, and has reference to a former resident of this township, but who left here two or three years ago with his family and is now living near Herman. Those who knew the worthy couple here will unite in sending expressions of sympathy to Mr. and Mrs. Blanchard over the sad event mentioned above.
