KILLED IN CANADA

Mrs. Grace Bartlett, Former Washington County Girl, Victim of Street Car Accident

The body of Mrs. Grace Bartlett arrived in Arlington Wednesday, and was taken to Elk City for burial. Mrs. Bartlett was the daughter of Mrs. Levi Johnson, of Dale, and died from the effects of a street car accident, which occurred at Winnepeg, Canada, October 2. Mrs. Johnson was notified of the terrible accident and departed at once for Winnepeg, arriving there too late to find her daughter alive, she having passed away a few hours after the accident. She leaves, beside her mother, a husband and two children. One a son fourteen years old, and a daughter aged six. Mrs. Bartlett was born on a farm at Dale thirty-five years ago, being the daughter of Mrs. Levi Johnson; she was married seventeen years ago to Andrew J. Bartlett; they continued to reside near Dale until a few years ago, when they moved on a farm near Herman, leaving there about a year and a half ago for Winnipeg, Canada where they have since resided. The direct cause of death was injuries received by being run over by a freight car. It seems that she was riding on the street car, the passengers became panic stricken and rushing, jumped from the car. Mrs. Bartlett, another lady, and a man, jumping right in front of the car, which passed over them, the two ladies receiving injuries from which they soon died, and the man injured very badly. The unfortunate woman was well and favorably known among the people living in the Dale neighborhood, and her untimely and tragic death leaves a void that will be felt for some time to come. The Review-Herald unites with this entire community in extending heartfelt sympathies to the sorrowing family over their great loss.
