John Gilliland died Sunday evening at 10 o'clock at the home of his son, Roy. The funeral was held Wednesday afternoon from the Methodist Church in Blair and burial in Blair Cemetery.

OBITUARY

Funeral services were held at the Congregational church Wednesday afternoon for John Edward Gilliland, who passed away at the home of his son, Roy, at Herman, Neb. at the age of 55 years and 21 days.

The deceased was a former Blair resident, having been united in marriage to Miss Dorothy Nye Carson December 13, 1893, and afterwards living here for a number of years. He resided in Burt County for twenty five years and in later life lived on a ranch near Burwell, Neb.

He is survived by his wife and six sons who are Roy and Marion of Herman, Lloyd, Howard, Raymond and Wesley of Burwell, Neb. He leaves five sisters, Mrs. Chas. Frisbee of Calif., Mrs. A. J. McManigal and Mrs. Ben Klinger of Decatur, Neb., Mrs. A. C. Puffer of Tekamah and Mrs. Susie Lane of Blair

John Edward Gilliland was born in Wapello county, Iowa, near Ottumwa, August 18, 1874, and died at the home of his son, Roy, at Herman last Sunday. He was married in 1893 at Blair to Miss Dorothy Nye Carson of this city and for five years they lived near Blair but later moved to a farm near Lake Quinnebaugh where they made their home for twenty years. In 1927 they moved to Burwell, but returned to Herman last spring when Mr. Gilliland’s health began to fail. Funeral services were conducted from the Congregational church yesterday afternoon, Rev. A.F. Newell, officiating, after which interment was made in the Blair cemetery. Surviving him are his bereaved wife; six sons, Roy and Marion of Herman; Lloyd, Howard, Raymond and Wesley of Burwell; a grandson, Orie, of Herman; and five sisters, Mrs. Chas. Frisbee of California, Mrs. A.J. McManigal and Mrs. Ben Klinger, both of Decatur; Mrs. A.C. Puffer of Tekamah; and Mrs. Susie Lane of this city.
