Keith LaVerne Rahlfs, age 70 of Blair, passed away peacefully at his home on Sept. 18, 2022. A visitation will be held on Sunday, Sept. 25 from 4 to 7 p.m. at Campbell-Aman Funeral Home in Blair. Funeral services will be held on Monday, Sept. 26 at 2 p.m. at the Washington County fairgrounds Rybin Building. A private burial will be held at a later date.

Keith was born on Nov. 28, 1951, in Omaha, to Lola (Hansen) and Herman LaVerne Rahlfs. Keith graduated from Blair High School and lived in Blair his whole life. Keith made his livelihood over the years as a mail carrier, farmer, traveling singer and performer, auctioneer, and raising world-class quarter horses.

Keith was the long-time partner of Julie Rothermund and step-father to Lori (Nate) Garabrandt and Sarah Rothermund. He was dedicated to his family, friends, and neighbors, quick to lend a hand, and forthright in his thoughts and opinions. He valued using his auctioneer skills to help out his community, raising funds for Pheasants Forever, Ducks Unlimited, HETRA, Arlington Youth Foundation, Jeanette Hunt Animal Shelter, and numerous churches, to name a few. Keith loved all things rodeo and the fair, where you could usually find him announcing. He was a fixture in the Blair and Arlington communities. Keith never met a stranger, and seemed to run into friends and acquaintances everywhere he went.

Keith is survived by partner Julie Rothermund; step-daughters Lori (Nate) Garabrandt and Sarah Rothermund; niece Melissa (Kyle) Kimmerling and nephew Dan Tobin and their children Kaden and Owen Kimmerling, and Tommy and Elizabeth (Ellie Mae) Tobin.

Keith was preceded in death by his mother Lola, father H. LaVerne, brother Rodney, and sister Susan.

Memorials may be directed to St. Jude, Jeanette Hunt Animal Shelter, or other local organizations that Keith supported such as those listed above (Pheasants Forever, Ducks Unlimited, HETERA, etc.).

Eulogy, Readings:

Remembering Their Beautiful Song

God gives every person
Their own unique song--
It's one that will play
Their entire life long.

Through the love
That they give
And the gifts that they share,

Through the memories they make
And the dreams that they dare...

It's a song filled with beauty
And day-to-day grace
That plays through until
They see God face to face.

A song that is heard
In the heart loud and clear--
A song, if we listen,
We'll always still hear.

John 14: 1-4
