Funeral leaflet

Henry Ivan Neuhaus was born on a farm in Douglas County, NE on August 7, 1935. He was baptized on Sept. 22, 1935 at Zion Lutheran Church. He attended Dist. 57 Elementary School for 8 years. He was confirmed on May 15, 1949 also at Zion. He started Elkhorn High School in Sept. 1949 and graduated in May 1953. He raised grain and livestock on his family farm near 125th and Fort St.

He married his High School sweetheart, Aleta Brase, on Sept. 4, 1955 at Zion by Aleta's father, Pastor Herbert Brase. He quickly became a successful self-taught auction crier while still farming with his father, Henry J. Neuhaus. A daughter, Debbie was born to them on October 31, 1956. In 1960 he became involved in farm and real estate sales with Taylor and Martin Auctioneers. They lived on the family farm until 1969 at which time they moved to their farm on State Street north of Elkhorn.

Henry purchased Taylor and Martin Auctioneers and began selling truck tractors and trailers throughout the United States. While he was flying around the country for the auctions and running the company, he also maintained a productive row crop farming operation, and was an active broker of real estate deals. He developed lasting relationships and made a big difference in many people's lives.

After selling the auction company and then officially retiring in 1993, Henry embraced life as a family man, mentor and friend. He was a huge supporter of his grandkids and great-grand-kids' activities. Besides that, his favorite hobbies were NASCAR races, watching RFD TV, and going to land auctions in Nebraska and Iowa where he enjoyed talking with old friends. He loved having a good laugh, making good deals, and could usually find something funny or insightful to say about whatever was happening at the moment. He adored hard work and expected the best from himself and others.

At 86 years old he still had his wits and special brand of humor. Henry had an amazing heart that ran full-bore until it suddenly stopped early Tuesday morning.

He is survived by his wife, Aleta; and daughter, Debbie Nelson (Don); grandchildren, Ryan Palmer (Christy), Betsy Peter (Jason), Nikki Braddock (Dan); great-grandchildren: Makenzie, Mirabel, Avery, Ivan, Gage, Brylie and Barrett; sister, Darlene Doll of Nickerson, NE; nieces, Nancy Hilgenkamp (Dale), Peg Pribnow (Steve); nephew, Gary Doll (Annette); and many great- and great-great-nieces and nephews.

FUNERAL SERVICE: Saturday, 2pm, at Reichmuth Funeral Home in Elkhorn. VISITATION at the funeral home Saturday, from 10am-2pm, with family receiving friends from Noon-2pm prior to the service. Interment at Flower Hill Cemetery. Memorials to the family for later designation.
