Roy A. Nearhood, former Blair resident that is known to many here, died Tuesday, April 7th, at an Omaha hospital. He had been ill for several months. He was 74 years old.

He was born on June 18, 1889 in Lincoln County, Kansas, to the late Mr. and Mrs. John H. Nearhood. The family soon after moved to Ong, Nebraska, later coming to Blair where Mr. Nearhood attended Dana College.

On June 18, 1917 he was married to Miss Mable Meador of Herman. They lived a short while in Blair, where he was employed as a postal clerk, then moved to Omaha where he continued in the Postal Department and in the last years was Postmaster at the Benson Station until his retirement in 1960.

They were the parents of a daughter, Mrs. Paul (Norma) Hultman of Omaha. He is also survived by a brother, John, of Clearwater, Florida, and one grandson, Steven Hultman of Omaha. He was preceded in death by his wife in January, 1962.

Funeral services will be held at Kremer Funeral Home in Benson at 1 o’clock tomorrow, April 10. Burial will be in the Blair Cemetery.
