ARTHUR JOHN SUMNER

Arthur John Sumner was born at Moriah, Essex Co. NY Sept. 29, 1859 and received his education at Knox College, Galesburg, Ill. He was married to Dora E. Moore at Winterset, Iowa March 8, 1893 and to this union two sons were born, Leon L. and Howard F.

Mr. Sumner was a member of the First Christian Church at Winterset, Iowa, and was a gentleman of high Christian character, living the life that he professed in-as-much as it is possible for mortal to do.

Up to the time of his marriage he was a railway fireman and engineer and until 1891 was a member of the Brotherhood of engineers.

After his marriage he followed farming in Iowa and a few years back moved to this county, residing on the Hans Anderson farm on the Bench. He suffered from ear trouble and submitted to an operation. A second operation was deemed necessary, and this operation proved more than he could stand and he passed away Wednesday, November 11 in the Wise Memorial hospital in Omaha.

The funeral services will be held tomorrow, Friday, at 10 o’clock A.M. at the home, Rev. Camp officiating, and interment will be made in the Blair cemetery.
