Diane Lea (Elliott) Safford was born August 22, 1960 in Omaha, Nebraska to Raymond and Darlene (Byers) Elliott. She grew up in Omaha where she attended Florence grade school and graduated from Omaha North High School in 1978. Growing up, she enjoyed fishing and camping.

Diane married Ed Safford August 23, 1986 at the Little White Chapel in Las Vegas, Nevada. The couple was blessed with two children: Joey and Shelbey and the family made their home outside of Waterloo, Nebraska.

Diane worked as a cook for Springfield Public Schools for many years. She enjoyed cooking and fishing, and loved spending time with her kids and all of her family. She was an outspoken, stubborn and loving woman. She loved to be #1 Aunt Diane and was always the life of the party. She was huge fan of the Huskers and loved to listen to Bad Company. Her favorite color was blue and favorite movie, Pretty Woman. She cherished her marriage to Ed and being with Joey and Shelbey. She was happiest when she could feed people.

Diane passed away on Wednesday, September 21, 2022 at CHI Health Bergan Hospital at the age of 62 years and 30 days.

She was preceded in death by her parents Raymond and Darlene Elliott and brother Raymond Elliott.

Diane is survived by her husband Ed of Waterloo, son Joey of Waterloo, daughter Shelbey of Elkhorn, sisters and brothers-in-law Donna (Steve) Campbell of Elkhorn and Patricia (Ward) Marr of Ft. Calhoun, NE.

Funeral service 10:30 AM Thursday at Reichmuth Funeral Home, Elkhorn. Interment at the Elkhorn Cemetery. Visitation Wednesday from 5-7 PM at the funeral home. Memorials to the family.
