SERVICES SET FOR FRED JENSEN TUESDAY

Services are 10 a.m. Tuesday, September 13, at First Lutheran Church in Blair for Fred W. Jensen, 85, who died September 10, 1983.

The rev. Carl Schattauer, Jr., and the Rev. Kurt Sortland are officiating. Burial will be in the Blair Cemetery.

Fred W. Jensen was born May 27, 1898, in Kennard to Lars and Ane Elizabeth Iverson Jensen. He was baptized at Emmaus Lutheran Church in Kennard and was confirmed on May 24, 1914, at First Lutheran Church in Blair. He attended school both at Orum and at Blair.

He served on numerous committees, including the County ASCS Board, First Lutheran Church Council and the Good Shepherd Home Board, and was the treasurer of the Finance Committee at First Lutheran Church.

He married Leona Nelson on March 11, 1920. In 1974, he retired from the farm on which he had lived for 54 years and moved to Blair.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Lars and Ane Jensen; foster parents, Peter and Petria Christensen; brothers, Ivan, Sigurd, John and Peter Jensen; and his sisters, Emma Matz and Annie Danielson.

He is survived by his wife, Leona; and two sons, Kenneth of Blair and Leon of Omaha. Six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Esther Rasmussen, Blair; and one step-brother, Owen Nelson, North Platte, Nebraska, also survive him.

Pallbearers are Randy Jensen, Rodney Jensen, Tom Jensen, Troy Jensen, Larry Nelson and Harold Rasmussen.

Clare Cowing is organist. Homer Nielsen is soloist.

Campbell Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements for the services.
