Mrs. Kirsten Hansen Died Sunday Night

Mrs. Kirsten Hansen of Orum died Sunday night at the Dodge County Hospital in Fremont. Mrs. Hansen would have been 75 years of age today (Monday), Febr. 6th.

She is survived by a stepson, Jens Hansen, of Orum; two sisters, Miss Hanna Larsen and Miss Louis Larsen; a brother, Martin Larsen, all of Orum.

The Bendorf Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements which have not been completed.

Mrs. Kirsten Hansen Buried February 8th

Kirsten Matilda Hansen was born at Orum, Nebraska February 6, 1886, a daughter of Mr. Hans Christen Larsen and his wife, Marit. She was baptized as an infant in St. Paul’s Lutheran Church of Orum, which is the site of the present Immanuel Lutheran Church of Orum. She was confirmed in the same church in her early youth.

On August 21, 1929 she was married to Edward O. Hansen. Through this marriage, she became the step-mother of seven children. Her husband, Edward Hansen, passed away December 7, 1943.

Kirsten Hansen lived in the Orum community all her life. She served as church organist for the St. Paul’s congregation for over 40 years.

She is survived by two sisters, Louise and Hanna Larsen, of Orum; one brother, Martin Larsen of Orum; seven step-children, Mrs. Emma (Axel) Hansen of Orum, Jens Hansen of Orum, Mrs. John Taylor of Orum, Mrs. Edna Vans of Omaha, Mrs. Clarence Toelke of Herman, Mrs. Floyd Welliver of Omaha, Carl Hansen of Fremont; and a granddaughter, whom she raised, Mrs. Wesley Evans of Omaha; two nephews, Melvern Larsen of Kearney, and Alton Larsen of Orum, as well as other grandchildren, relatives and many friends.

Mrs. Hansen died February 5, 1961 at 11:58pm, two minutes before her 75th birthday. The funeral was at Immanuel Lutheran Church at Orum on February 8, with Rev. Harold Laursen officiating. Interment was at the Orum Cemetery.
