Dallas Hilgenkamp, age 88, of Uehling passed away on December 13, 2022, at Methodist Fremont Health.

Dallas was born on December 26, 1933, to Martin and Edna (Heidbrink) Hilgenkamp on a farm near Arlington. He graduated from Arlington High School where he met his future bride, Patricia Knutson. They were married on March 8, 1953, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church north of Arlington. They lived in the Arlington area until February 1957 when they moved to Uehling and started a plumbing and electric business that ran for over 50 years. Dallas' training as a plumber/electrician started with on-the-job training in Arlington before moving to Uehling. He also attended several schooling seminars on electrical, air conditioning, water softeners, etc.

Dallas was an active member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Uehling where he sang in the choir, served on the council, and was a member of the building committee when the new church was built in 1972.

Dallas also was an active member of the community. He served on the Uehling Volunteer Fire Department for 25 years and as fire chief for two of those years. He joined the Lyons Club in 1957 and was a member until the local chapter closed some 40-plus years later. He played on the Hillside Dairy softball team for 15 years, sponsored a bowling team, and coached boys and girls little league baseball. He served on the Uehling Village Board for 12 years, the National Guard for 9 years, and he sang for the Pathfinder Chorus for 3 years. More recently Dallas served as president of the Uehling Park and Auditorium Committee.

As hobbies, Dallas enjoyed woodworking and fishing. In his later years, he loved watching his KC Royals baseball team on TV. Like others of his generation, he will be remembered as someone who cared deeply for the community that he lived and served in. Most importantly, he loved his family immensely and spent time with them whenever he could.

Dallas was preceded in death by his parents, Martin and Edna Hilgenkamp, and a sister, Shirley Hula. Survivors include his wife, Pat Hilgenkamp; son, Tod Hilgenkamp (Barb) of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; daughter Ann Kobs (John) of Blair, Nebraska; 5 grandchildren, Dru (Megan) Kobs, Blaine Hilgenkamp, Hannah Hilgenkamp, Brooke Ann Kobs, and Bria Kobs; and 1 great-grandchild, Skylar Kobs.

Visitation with the family present is 2-5pm on Sunday, December 18, at Ludvigsen Mortuary in Fremont, Nebraska. The funeral will be Monday, December 19, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Uehling, Nebraska.

The family requests memorials be directed to the Uehling Park and Auditorium Fund.
