The news of the sudden death of John Ackerman in an Omaha hospital came as a sad surprise to the people here. He had been ailing for several days, but was up Saturday and with his wife drove to Herman. While there, his condition became so serious that he was taken to Omaha on the evening train, but death claimed him at twelve o’clock Monday.

The family live on a farm three miles west of Herman. Mr. Ackerman was just in the prime of life. There is left the wife and six children in the sad home.

A strange thing is that in this family there have been three deaths in the past six months. The aged father and mother and now the son.
