Age 93. Retired from the Omaha Fire Department. Survived by wife of 76 years, Margaret; children, Donna (deceased), Barb, Suzi, Abe Jr. (Jodi), Marie (Robb), Nan (Scott), and Roxanne (Blake); 14 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; 5 brothers; 1 sister; and a host of other loving family and friends.

VISITATION: Thursday 5-7pm, with ROSARY at 7pm at Mortuary. FUNERAL MASS: Friday, February 17, 10am at St. Philip Neri Church, 8200 N. 30th Street, Omaha. INTERMENT: Forest Lawn Cemetery, Omaha.

On Wednesday, Feb. 8, 2023, Albert A. (Abe) Workman, loving husband and father of seven, passed away at the age of 93.

Abe was born on June 19, 1929, in Omaha, to John and Bernice (Bayersdorfer) Workman.

He attended Omaha Tech High School. On Jan. 11, 1947, he married Margaret Schooler. Following this union, Albert explored various employment opportunities with his father and brothers until 1957, when he applied to and was accepted into the Brotherhood of the Omaha Professional Firefighters. Retiring after 28 years of dedicated service completing his employment at Engine 43. During this time, Albert and Margaret raised six daughters and one son.

He had a passion for fishing, boating, camping, gardening, and all things outdoors He was also an avid old school country music lover, and collector of belt buckles, plaid shirts, and tall tales. He was known for his quick wit, his infectious smile, and his kind and compassionate spirit (hidden under his gruff exterior).

Abe was preceded in death by his parents, one sister, Emelea, and three brothers Ted, John, Ray, daughter Donna, two sons-in-law, Rod Hansen and Jerry Garza. He is survived by his wife of 76 years, Margaret and six children, Barbara Garza, Suzi Bradach, Abe (Jodi) Workman, Marie (Robb) Paulk, Nan (Scott) Brandt, and Roxanne (Blake) Fanning, 14 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren, brothers, Chuck, Dick, Jake, Pat, and PeeWee, sister Marge Breckenridge, and sister-in-law Helen Workman. He is also survived by an array of nieces, nephews and friends.

Visitation, Roeder Funeral Home located at 2727 N 108th St., Omaha, 5 to 7 p.m., Thursday, Feb. 16, with Rosary at 7 p.m. Mass, St. Philip Neri Catholic Church located at 8200 N. 30 St., Omaha, 10 a.m. Friday, February 17. Internment, Forest Lawn Cemetery located at 7909 Mormon Bridge Road, Omaha. Luncheon, St. Philip Neri following Interment.
