Charles J. Langston, 79, passed away on March 23, 2023, as a result of a long battle with cancer. His wife was by his side at their home as he drifted off to be with the Lord. He was born March 29, 1943, in Paducah, Ky., the son of Curtis and Edna Earl (Watson) Langston.

Charles was raised in Paducah and graduated from St. Mary’s High School in 1961. Following graduation, he served in the US Air Force and was deployed to Vietnam from 1967 to 1968. In 1969, he retired from active service and moved to Omaha, where he started working at OPPD and met the love of his life, Lia Otto. Chuck and Lia married at King of Kings Church on June 26, 1971, and settled in Omaha for a few years before moving to Blair, to raise their 3 children.

Chuck graduated from UNO with his Business Administration degree and continued to work for OPPD for almost 30 years before moving to Lincoln in 1998 and working at NMPP until his final retirement in 2015. He retired from the Air Guard in 1988.

Chuck was an active member of Christ’s Place in Lincoln and a founding member of Radiant Springs Church in Crete where he was part of the worship team. He held many board seats over the years and was passionate about his political involvements.

Chuck enjoyed the beach, playing golf, nature walks with his dogs and spending time with his family. Some of his most cherished times in life were spent not only with his immediate family but with his church family, worshiping his creator and Savior. He was a man who valued his faith in God above all else and tried to walk out that faith to the best of his earthly abilities. He was an example to many and never met a stranger.

Chuck is survived by his wife Lia Langston; son Matthew (Daisy) Langston of Roca; daughters, Julie (John) Henton of Blair, and Jill (Dave) Stanek of Roca; brothers, James (Rosemary) Langston, John Langston, and David (Jill) Langston; 10 grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

A celebration of life will be held at Christ’s Place Church in Lincoln on Thursday, April 6 at 2pm.
