Jimmy Shaw, age 77 of Blair, passed away April 25, 2023 at Memorial Community Hospital in Blair. Memorial services will be held Tuesday, May 2, 2023 at 11:00 AM at First Lutheran Church in Blair, Nebraska, with a luncheon following. Visitation will begin one hour prior to the service.

James Richard Shaw was born June 12, 1945 in Quincy, Massachusetts, the adopted son of Gerald and Charlotte Shaw. He attended school at St. Coletta’s School and then Sacred Heart School.

At the age of 14, he began working as a janitor at Sacred Heart School and continued to work there for 31 years until he began working at Shaw’s Supermarket. In 2004, Jimmy moved from Boston to Blair, Nebraska with his family. After moving to Blair, Jimmy became a member of First Lutheran Church. In 2017, Jimmy moved to Shepherd’s Village, where he thrived socially; Jimmy was a friend to all. Jimmy was a long-time volunteer with the Washington County Recycling Center and was active in The Special Olympics.

Jimmy is survived by his brother and sister-in-law Dick and Kathy Shaw of Blair; niece Laurinda Shaw of Blair; nephew Travis (Runa) Shaw of Berlin, Germany; and countless friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his favorite aunt Sophie. Memorials may be directed to First Lutheran Church or The Special Olympics.
