Mary A. Wilderman, 90, passed away on Tuesday, April 11, 2023 in Omaha, NE.

Mary aka "Grammy" was a generous and loving wife, mother and friend to many. Mary's final act of generosity was expressed with her donation of her remains to the Nebraska Anatomical Board for use in the Deeded Body Program.

Mary A. Aymond was born in Eola, Avoyelles Parrish, LA on 16 August 1932 the ninth child of Remi' A. Aymond and Aline Mabel Couvillion. She grew up in the Bunkie and Cheneyville and attended school there, graduating from Cheneyville High School in May 1950.

Following graduation, she moved to Alexandria, LA and worked as a nurse's aide at St. Francis Cabrini Hospital. She enlisting in the US Army in September 1951. She went through basic training at Fort Lee, VA. In a journal she kept, she noted that basic training was fun, especially the two weeks spent in the woods on bivouac and that her favorite duty was K. P., but she had to lay the large kitchen pots on their sides and crawl in to dry them out since she was in and around the five-foot mark in height. After basic training she was sent to Ft. Sam Huston in Texas to train as a laboratory technician. From there she was sent to Chicago, then to Fort Leavenworth, KS to work in the hospital. She remained stationed at this location until her honorable discharge with the rank of Corporal in September 1953. She then moved to Omaha and entered Creighton College, where she received further education while working at a local clinic.

On Sunday evening, November 27, 1955, Mary answered a phone call that ended up changing her life. Charles Wilderman was on the phone, and since her roommate was not at home, he asked her out to the party he had been invited to. On Monday her asked her to marry him, and they were married in Grand Island Nebraska on November 30, 1955 by the Justice of the Peace. When asked many years later why she decided to marry him, she stated that they just knew they were meant to be together. They were married just nine days shy of 57 years. Charles passing away on the 21st of November 2012. Six children were born to them, Kay, Mark, Trina, Jim, Paula & Judy.

While living in Grand Island, Mary worked for St. Francis Hospital until 1970 and then Grand Island Clinic. In 1981 she, Charles and the two youngest girls moved to Omaha. In Omaha Mary worked as a medical technician for the University of Nebraska Medical Center and retired in 1997. After retirement Mary took on part time roles at IMA and Quest Diagnostics until her final retirement in November of 2000. Mary was always looking for opportunities to help others and spent time volunteering at Montclair Nursing Home and at Bergan Mercy, and was always ready to help with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Mary is survived by a sister Maude Skeen in Louisiana and a brother William Aymond in Illinois; sister-in-law Jan Collins of Papillion; children Kay & Gary Cynova, Trina & Richard Leech, James & Heather Wilderman, Paula & Debi Hitt-Wilderman & Judy Triplett; fourteen grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Besides Charles, Mary was preceded in death by her parents, four brothers, four sisters, and son, Mark, in 2021.

A Celebration of Life service will be held on Saturday, April 29, 2023 at Steadfast Bible Fellowship, 2440 S 141st Cir, Omaha, Nebraska at 10:30am

Memorials are suggested to the Alzheimer's Association, Children's Hospital of Omaha, or Food Bank of the Heartland.
